Just like that my body and the planet aligned

October 1st - 24th at Craven Arts House in Skipton, UK

With no words left in my brain during my cancer treatment, I found myself drawing my experiences and feelings. I found myself communicating to my loved ones my chaotic state of being through graphite lines over paper.

This is a small collection of episodes and feelings that I experienced during those painful months of treatment and uncertainties.

Hola!

I am an individual made of many vanishing points, textures and colours. Noticeable for the way of walking in which harmony and constant tempo perhaps are not the most appropriate descriptive words, more of an improvisational rhythm is my signature note. Step after misstep, securely I move to the daily unknown.

I was born in Colombia in the '80s (yes, terrifying times to be born there), moved to the USA in 2004 to be an exchange student for a year, decided to stay to pursue my BFA degree with a concentration in industrial design, and have worked as an industrial designer since. In 2019 I moved to the UK to earn a MSc in Sustainability, Entrepreneurship and Design, struggle through lockdowns and pandemic chaos, to ultimately move to a little town in the north of England under cloudy and rainy skies, and realised that all I needed to do was to stay still for more than a minute and be an artist. Art saved my mind, and a rhythmic mind allowed my body to heal itself.
